Being raised by a graduate in Fine Arts gave me a nurtured capacity of art appreciation.
So kudos to the new Google Art Project, that allows people to explore world museums and view commentaries.
For one, my mom likes to point out the general inaccuracy of Northern European painters' renderings of Middle East landscapes, as shown here in this painting.
"Far too lush!" she'll crack up. But alas, they drew on what landscapes they knew in their homelands.
Of course, there are copyright issues still being ironed out and several major museums yet to sign on to The Project, but overall I applaud this promising venture in its efforts to enable art to the masses.
