What is leg?

By now, the nerd (or merely Jeopardy enthusiast) community has been buzzing about Watson's first performance last night.

Just my two issues:

a) I still can't get over that Watson's first clue selection was the Daily Double.

So, um, thanks for clarifying, IBM?

b) The algorithms are very impressive, but who else agrees that Ken & Brad were simply beat to buzz in by millionths of a second, over and over again?

I can't help but thinking that footage of Alex Trebek in the refrigerated control rooms of Watson's many processors will be laughed at in 10 years, for how 'archaic' it will look.
Because by then, we'll all have Watson-like capacity on handheld, or something like it.

Can't wait for tonight!

thanks for the reminder about this! (jeopardy! ... another exclamation point) and, yes, in 10 years Moore's law embarrasses all futurists. i am still so impressed with gene rodenberry and how "star trek" predicted the future.

re: your museum post, you beat me to the punch on that one! (no. 3 exclam) i'm finishing up my museum post now. you're such a hipster, early adopter.
